On Tuesday the 16th February 2010, the Cromer Campus 34th annual swimming carnival was held at Manly Swimming Centre. The students of Cromer Campus were transported to the venue by buses, from the school.
The Cromer Campus swimming carnival was held at Manly Swimming Centre. The venue was both suitable & not suitable. It being suitable, because there was plenty of space for the school to fit & an easy place for staff to be able to fulfill their duties during this event. Not being suitable because, the community entering the swim centre & distracting students from participating and leading to misbehaviour.
The attendance to this event was quite impressive, although this could have been improved by encouraging the students to compete as well as have fun and making consequences for those who do not attend.
There were many events held at the swimming carnival including 200m IM, 50m Butterfly, 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 100m Freestyle, 50m breastroke, 200m Freestyle, Relays (6 fastest swimmers from each house) & last but not least, Cromer Cup (Handicap race to find the fastest Cromer swimmers).
All staff participated in the duty roster. The followin teacher's attended to the following duties: Carnival manager: A.Van der Wallen. Announcers: J.Hanna & F.Bird. Starters: David Krust & S.Williams. Marshalls: K.Price, J.Lambert, C.Amery & S.Collins. Check Starter: M.Stanton & P.Whittaker. Chief Timekeepers: M.Murray & R.Grudic. Timekeepers: from 10am-1pm, 1) E.Lee 2) A.Knoke 3) K.Vanderbent 4) Z.Beale 5) A.Black 6) I.Dunstan 7) S.Armstrong 8) D.Everingham. From 11-2pm, 1) I.Bladwell 2) T.Moran 3) S.Harper 4) S.Gehl 5) G.Hartshorne 6) R.Delrennie 7) K.Smart 8) KA.Lee. Chief Judge: L.De Montfort & A.Roberts. Judges: B.Coffey, B.Loughman, G.Balas, N.Austin, G.Purcell, K.Conaghan. Sportstrac recorx2ders: I.Shehperd, B.Pimentel, A.Stevens, E.Blansjaar, D.Leeson, T.Ramsay, each x2 students. Each and every one of these staff, done exceptionally well at what they were assigned to, alot of thanks to them without them it would have not been possible to get through such a fantastic day !
At the swimming carnival, unfortunately I did not get the chance to participate in any events, due to being a helping hand with staff that needed a student's helping hand, which I also enjoyed.
Overall the day turned out to be a succes, thanks to the staff & students of Cromer Campus. Looking forward to the 35th Cromer Campus annual Swimming Carnival !
